Cinnamon Roll Cake

Cinnamon Roll Cake

1 yellow cake mix
4 eggs
1 c. sour cream
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. light brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. powdered sugar
1-2 Tbl. milk
1-2 tsp. vanilla

Combine cake mix, eggs, sour cream and oil until well blended; set aside.  Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.  Spread half of the cake batter into a 9x13 cake pan.  Sprinkle with half of the brown sugar and cinnamon, covering the entire cake.  Spread the rest of the cake batter over layer and top with remaining sugar and cinnamon.  Use a knife and swirl the batter.  Bake at 325 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.  Make the glaze: combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth and pour over the hot cake right when it comes out of the oven.  Let set.  Serve warm or at room temperature.  You could add 1/3 cup of chopped pecans to the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture if you would like.

Rainbow Cake in a Jar

This is such a great idea I saw on Pinterest. So I made some for Mary's birthday.

Just make a boxed white cake according to the directions on the box.
Pour the batter into 4ish different bowls and color each a different color with food coloring:

Pour 1/3 of each color into 3 pint sized mason jars that are sprayed with oil:

Place jars into baking dish with about 1/2" of water in the bottom.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Top with frosting and sprinkles!

Fun with Canvas!

8x10 Peacock

16x20 Konza Prairie Collage...I always take tons of pics out there, it's about time I do something with them.

How to make puffy paint canvas art:
Materials:
Blank Canvas
Acrylic Paint (to paint the canvas)
Paint brush or foam brush
Tulip Paint (Puffy works best, but you can also use glow in the dark, matte, slick, etc)
Wax Paper
Pen and Paper (for your own design) or computer printed design.

First tape down the design you want to trace to a flat surface.  Tape wax paper down over the design.  Trace design with puffy paint.  Set aside to dry.

While waiting on puffy paint to dry, paint your canvas with a paint brush or foam brush.  Set aside to dry (I usually let them dry overnight).

Peel design off of wax paper.  Foam brush on a layer of Mod Podge on the canvas.  Carefully place your design on the canvas.  Brush on another layer of Mod Podge all over the canvas, making sure to cover the design area really well.  Let dry.
A cool twist is using glow in the dark puffy paint:

How to make photo canvas art:

Paint canvas with acrylic paint. Let dry. Cut out and layout your pictures how you want them.  If you don't have a lot of patience, you can eyeball the placement of the photos on the canvas.  If you are patient, go ahead and measure out the photos so they will be placed exactly where you want them, but be sure to mark just inside where you will place the photo so you don't have pencil marks showing afterwards.  Put a light layer of Mod Podge all over the canvas, then place photos on top.  Put another even layer of Mod Podge on the photos/canvas.  Let dry.

BBQ Chicken Pizza

2-3 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast (season with salt, pepper, anything else you like)
1 Onion, diced or cut into 1" sized strips
1-2 Cups sliced mushrooms
1 Cup Your favorite BBQ Sauce
2-3 Cups Cheddar Cheese
1 Large Pizza Crust ( I used 2 of the boxed mixes and make one large cookie sheet sized crust)

Cook chicken over medium heat.  When chicken is getting close to done, slice chicken in 1/4" slices and put back in pan over med heat.  Add onions and mushrooms and about 3 Tablespoons of butter.  Cook chicken and onions until onions are tender and translucent.

While chicken is cooking, prepare crust as per box directions.  Bake crust for 3 minutes at 425 degrees F.  Take out of oven and spread BBQ sauce evenly over crust. Spread chicken/onion/mushroom mixture evenly over sauce then top with cheese.

Bake for another 10-15 minutes.
