The End of May

Chickens checking out my rock garden. It's a good thing these plants are durable, because the chickens like to stomp all over this hill.

Milton has become the resident bully.  He has it out for a silver laced roo and shows off for his ladies by chasing the other one off every chance he gets. He's going to be the first rooster I find a new home for.

Here's the next batch of babies that will be introduced into the flock very soon.  Introducing new members is stressful.  You have to just sit back and watch as the older chicks pick on the little ones to establish dominance.

Graceful Helen.

Chickens--the "free" rangers

My chickens have free roam of my back yard (the fence is keeping them in so far...) and they love messing with my plants.
I have bad luck...out of my 5 original wyandottes I have 5 roosters!

 Miss Dorothy--tamest chicken

Millie...err...Milton--Small little guy but he is trying to establish dominance.

Ryan...head rooster...also a very nice guy--is always the first to come running when I call for them.

 Just a few cockerels.
 Regina--a Hen!! Yay!

 Miss Dorothy strutting around

Primrose--skittish--not sure if "she" is a hen

Effie--I'm loving the appearance of this chicken--her "hair" is a soft poof.

Mr. Kitty trying to avoid the chickens

 Ryan taking a rest

 Katniss--beautiful girl

 Why hello there Ryan!

 Ahh--they heard me come out.

This looks like a nice place for a nap.

Miss Natalie is turning in to a beautiful hen.

Helen--the hardest pecker- -Don't mess with Helen!

Path to the Coop

One of our many projects in the yard includes this path that will lead from the house to the coop.  It's turning out better than I expected!

Here's my new rock garden....I'll be adding on to this.

Can you see "The Coop"?

Birthday Weekend!

I started my birthday weekend off like every other weekend by helping Evan (brother) sell flowers at the Farmers Market in Topeka.
Our painted up market helpers enjoyed some breakfast.
One of our customers let Evan take this smart car around for a spin.
The rest of Saturday was spent at my house with my family for a little bbq. Great day!

On Sunday I ventured over to KC for the Tour de Bier (biking brew tour) and enjoyed biking around KC w/ Claire (bestie from all the way back to kindergarten!)
My loot... Chacos! Rooster! Ninja! Cash! Plant Stand! Woohoo!

Manhattan KS Zoo (Sunset Zoo)

This spider monkey was showing off right off the bat.

The peacocks were out and proud

The flamingoes were primping and preening.

I love this pelican...I look forward to seeing him every time we visit.

He even sits there and begs for food.

 Bath time!
